Finally got around to tidying up our office at home - We can move now so enjoying the new found freedom.  We also went shopping in Lower Hutt tonight and bought some clothes for the kids.

Our tadpoles seem to have disappeared.  I guess that’s what you get with a cat.  :)  We do have one left though so we put it in a jar.  It has 4 legs and still has it’s tail attached but it seems to enjoy sticking to the side of the jar and out of the water.  Not realising they could climb things at this stage, it is probably likely the others all just climbed out of the pond and disappeared somewhere.  Hopefully not into the cat.

Cheryl and Hamish and family all made it to Nelson safely and they are liking the house they are staying in.

I signed up for the Karapoti mountain bike race today.  Was hoping to do the 50km ride but was full so will to the 20Km.  Probably a good idea anyway as I know someone who took about nine hours to do the 50Km.  :)

Joshua is 6 and late last year started piano lessons, He’s only done a few but has been practising heaps over the holidays and is playing really well.  He even wrote his own song the other day and he keeps trying to find new chords and things.  Natalie and I are very proud of how he is doing.

I have a mountain of work to do at work at the moment - most, a hang over from last year.  I got quite a few done today which is a good feeling - as opposed to it endlessly mounting.

Another nice hot day here in Wellington.  If only I had a beach.

My car got towed today.  Thought I was in a legitimate park, turns out it was across an unmarked driveway.  In hindsight, I should have used my superpowers to feel its presence.  Nasty letter to city council coming up.

Bought a new office chair today - very comfy chair.  No-one expects the spanish inquisition.

Rebecca is very close to crawling - she can do backwards.  Directionally challenged at the moment.

New season of Flight of the Conchords is back on the US.  Not available here in NZ yet but there are means…  (I bought the first series on DVD BTW).

It was a regional public holiday today, being Wellington Anniversary.  We spent the morning at H2O Xtream this morning.  Rebecca went for her first real swim outside of the bath and loved it so I guess we’ll be back there soon.

Joshua at the Cricket

I took Josh to the cricket today.  Wellington lost but it was very nice lazing in the sun.  It’s the first real game Josh has been to.  He does play in a team and we tried to go once before but it got rained out.  He had loads of fun collecting players signatures, getting high on sugar and learning some of the rules and scoring he hasn’t seen before.  He also seemed amused as to why so many people were buying that brown liquid.

Joshua lost another tooth today (that lower left one in the photo is on it’s last hotdog), it was his second one in a couple of months.  Hopefully the global recession hasn’t hit the tooth fairy too hard.

Took the kids to the truck show at TMP today (just by our house).  All the trucks drove past our house this morning on the way to the park in a procession, hoking horns etc.  It was pretty cool.  At the show, Joshua and Ashley hopped in some and got lifted up really high on a cherry picker thing.  Joshua liked the monster truck.

We had a BBQ tonight with some people from our church (at their house).  It was good and we got to meet some new people.  Rebecca seemed to be a hit and loved all the attention.

I am thinking about going to watch a game of cricket tomorrow.  Hopefully it will be a nice day and convince me it’s a good idea.

I sold my old printer for $1 on trademe.  It broke.

It’s nice being on holiday and knowing I don’t have to go to work tomorrow either.  I even had a wee afternoon nap today.  Must be getting old.  :)

11 Years wedding anniversary today.  Went out for dinner at Vivo restaurant.  Excellent restaurant, very nice food and service.  One of the best I’ve been to for a long time.  Very full now.    They had a $10.5K bottle of wine on the winelist but I opted for the Coke instead.

We still have the Baxter fam staying with us.  Cheryl and Hamish looks after the kids while we went out.  Earlier today, the kids all had loads of fun in the sandpit and trampolining with the lawn sprinklers on.

This morning I went on a bike ride and met the rest of the family half way at the short straw cafe for morning tea.  The slackers took the car.  Why didn’t I think of that?

We live by the Trentham racecourse and they have their biggest event this weekend and next, so we get to amuse ourselves by watching lots of very nicely dressed, high fashion drunk women (and men) stumbling past our house.

Being Wellington anniversery on Monday, Monday is a regional holiday so looking forward to the long weekend.

The company that made the buggy we bought on Jan 11 announced today they were going into receivership.  Doh!  A bit worried about the warrenty implications as it was sold to us with a 3 year manufacturers warrenty.

Got car serviced today and WOF.  No probs which is good.

Have Cheryl (sister in law), Hamish (brother in law) and family staying over tonight.  Ten people living in the same house.  Is loads of fun.  :)

Tune in next time

I signed up for the bike wise battle.  It’s pterry cool, you enter in how much you ride each time you ride over a month and it tallys up other people in your company/department so you can complete with each other and track their progress.

I bought some piano tuning stuff off ebay last week and it arrived today (from China).  It was pretty quick since I selected the slowest (i.e. cheapest) shipping method.  Have been reading up on Google how to do it.  Thought I’d have a go.  :)  Come back later to find out if I screw it up.  :)

Have haircut tonight, thought I should do it before things start living in it.

Felt like I should be testing out our remote customer support procedures today by working from the beach.  Probably would have got more work done actually - uninterrupted.  Another nice walk along the waterfront to/from work though.

Interesting article:  Delete 10 friends from facebook and get a free BK burger.
You could always add them back again I suppose - or make a fake profile.  :)

Having a family movie night tonight - so will be nice to unwind to.  Normally involves copious amounts of junk food and drink.

I love catching up with old friends - caught up with James Foster today who I haven’t seen for years.  Shared stories of the old days over a hot chicken tikka masala.  He is doing well and living back in Tauranga.

We (just the fam)  had dinner at Hogs Breath cafe tonight.  I like their steaks and the kids like going there.  We came away very full.

Joshua and Ashley start school again soon and they required about a million dollars worth of stationery for the year.  After extending the mortgage and buying it all, we then had to cover it, label it, sort it, pack it - so is good to get all that done.  Did you know, you now have to buy such things a box of tissues for the classroom, whiteboard markers for the teacher, their own glue sticks (6)  and own crayons.?  In my day….     :)
